Indian Horizons welcomes you to Rajasthan to have a wonderful experience of the forts and palaces along with the rich and colorful culture. We welcome you to visit the Thar Desert on the backs of the ship of the desert and explore the rich culture of exquisite palaces, arts and crafts. We take you along the sands of time on a Camel Safari, to unravel the love legends of the desert. We provide you with a personal Camel and a team who remains with you throughout your journey across the desert. And those who fancy that extra comfort can ride a Camel cart.

SUGGESTED PROGRAM :
Day 1 - Arrive Jodhpur
Day 2 - Jodhpur / Rohetgarh
( Drive - 40 kms. )
Morning drive for a short distance to Rohetgarh. Rohetgarh is an old family property of thr Thakur of Rohet and now converted into a Hotel with beautiful rooms, pool etc. The Garh is walled all around and set within a village in the semi desert country. Overnight at the Rohetgarh.
Day 3 - Rohetgarh / The Palace
Morning ride 25 kms. through scrubland, passing through quaint hamlets of mud - huts occupied by the various colorful attired tribal locals of the desert.
Noon : Lunch at the splendid Sardar Samand Palace. The property of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, situated at the edge of a huge lake, on a hill with miles of open country below you.
PM: Relax in the luxurious palace with its comfortable rooms, swimming pool on the terrace overlooking the lake and watch the birdlife on the lake. Overnight at the Sardar Samand Palace.
Day 4 - Sardar Samand Palace / Sodawas Kot
Ride off after an early breakfast, again through scrubland interspread with volcanic outcrops, passing more villages till you reach a tall peak, at the base of which you will be served a picnic lunch prepared on site. (the ride is for 22 kms.)
PM: Ride another 23 kms. skirting a lake and passing through a slightly greener land until by sunset you reach Sodwas Kot. A family country mansion, complete with modern amenities through built in the 50's. The owner will be your host. Overnight stay at the Sodwas Kot.
Day 5 - Sodwas Kot / Kotri
It is another long day of fine horse safari with an early start. 20 kms. through Farms and bigger villages. You watch the landscape change from dry thorny scrub of the first two days to taller trees and rich fertile farmlands. You will see the multifarious use of the Oxen in ploughing, carting and irrigation. Arrive at the old Shiva Temple for lunch.
PM: Ride on and we start getting low hillocks and 22kms. later we are at an ancient 200 yrs. Old castle in the middle of a small rustic shepherds village. Kotri The castle has been provided with modern amenities and we spend the night here. Your host, the owner is a descendent of an old noble village. Overnight at the Kotri Castle.
Day 7 - Kotri / Ranakpur
Ride off after breakfast past more shepherd and farming villages and lakes to reach Ranakpur (25kms.) Lunch at the Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat. This is another property of the Maharaja of Jodhpur.
PM: Drive by jeep (4 kms.) to visit the famous Ranakpur Jain temples circa 1462 AD. The huge temple structure is made up of marble and intricately carved deities and heavenly apsaras adorn the pillars, domes and walls of this awe inspiring structure. Return to the Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat and we spend the night in cottages hidden amongst the Mango trees. Overnight at the Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat.
Day 8 - Ranakpur / Udaipur
Morning drive to reach Udaipur. Arrive and check-in at the Hotel. Overnight stay at the Hotel.
